It provides a direct and easy feedback loop. All programs are documented really well, I could not make out a clear winner. I like the mac interface better then the windows one. Stencyl is a game creation platform enabling developers to design once and play. I used the mac version since more than a year now and I think a big change of interface like that will cause people to get confused between the new and the old version. I cannot say if one has a steeper learning curve than the others, but you should definitely check out some of these tutorials to get started. For long-term use, you can pick either GameSalad Basic or GameSalad Pro. You can then see what the script does, and then open it up to see the code itself. I’m not going to lie, it definitely takes a while to learn each of the programs. But I imagine a person would eventually want to do more than "drag and drop" coding as their skills increased. You can do a lot in its editor just by dragging scripts onto in-game objects. The software was originally called 'StencylWorks' while in development and for the initial release but was later shortened to just 'Stencyl'. The software is available for free, with select publishing options available for purchase. I ask, because happybadgers advised in that above mentioned question/answer to start out in something like GameSalad - sort of jump into creating a game while learning objective c.
